News Raring 2 Go Fun Day On Sunday 20th July 2008, The Music Workshop Company supplied a World Music Workshop for the Raring 2 Go Fun Day in Graveley, Hertfordshire. We worked with participants of all ages from toddlers to grandparents.
Fun Day in London In June 2008, we supplied J H Promotions with workshops for an Under 5s Fun Day in London. We supplied a range of instruments from around the World including Djembes, Darabukas and a range of instruments specifically designed for young children.
Barnados Cymru - Blenau Gwent In May 2008, we supplied a day of interactive music workshops for a Fun Day for disabled young people in Blenau Gwent organised by Barnodos Cymru. We worked with participants of all ages and have been invited back to run workshops for their holiday club in July.
Team building session In May 2008, the Music Workshop Company supplied a World Percussion workshop to clients of Wessex Events at the Bournemouth Marriott Highcliff Hotel. We worked with 5 groups of participants for slots of 20 minutes to create a piece.
50th Birthday party In March 2008, the Music Workshop Company supplied an African drumming workshop for a 50th birhday party. We worked with participants from 8 years to 80 - several people joined in more than one session. We introduced them to the djembe - a West African drum and created a drumming circle.
Team building session In March 2008, the Music Workshop Company supplied a World Percussion workshop to clients of Wessex Events. We worked with the participants to create a piece using djembes and shakers - within 2 hours the group performed about their own piece.
On 28th July 2007, the Music Workshop Company supplied an African drumming workshop for a Hen party in London. The event was a family part - women and their children. We introduced them to the djembe - a West African drum and created a drumming circle. All participants were given a party bag containing musical instruments to take home. Rhythms of the World, Hitchin Museum On 14th July 2007, the Music Workshop Company ran a series of workshops at Hitchin Museum as part of the Rhythms of the World Festival. We ran two structured sessions - one for participants aged 8 years old and below with their parents and a second for participants aged 8 and over. The second part of the workshop was a drop in session for all ages.
Markteting @ UH On Thursday 11th May 2006, The Music Workshop Company's Maria Thomas ran a seminar on "How Creativity can help your Business" at the University of Hertfordshire's Marketing @ UH 2006 event. The seminar looked at how creative thought processes used by musicians can help business owners develop their businesses. The workshop was interactive and participants created their own percussion piece through improvising within a structure.
Arts Marketing Seminar, University of Hertfordshire On Friday 5th May, The Music Workshop Company's Director, Maria Thomas ran a seminar on participatory music as part of the annual Arts Marketing Seminar held at the University of Hertfordshire. The seminar looked at how participation can highten an audience's enjoyment of an event - participation such as singing along to a well known song, using body percussion(clapping / stamping etc) or being part of the main performance following a workshop. This was followed by a hands on workshop where participants took part in a number of percussion based activities.
World Music Day at Bellini's River Cafe, Welwyn On Monday 1st May, The Music Workshop Company ran a World Music day at Bellini's River Cafe, Welwyn. Participants of all ages enjoyed a hands on percussion workshop and children got a free musical instrument to take home.
Diversity Choir Workshop On Saturday 1st May, The Music Workshop Company ran a singing workshop for members of the London based Diversity choir. The workshop took place in a Youth Hostel in Great Yarmouth as part of an away weekend for the choir. The workshop leaders worked with the participants to develop breathing skills, keeping to a set part, rhythmic skills and diction. "This was loads of fun AND we learned that we're perfectly capable of singing and moving at the same time". "The workshops were varied and concentration was maintained throughout. Very friendly and approachable facilitators. There was a definite buzz from the group".

The Music Workshop Company at Harrods Department Store with Lea Graham Associates On Saturday 13th August, the Music Workshop Company ran a World Percussion workshop in the Toy Department of Harrods, London on behalf of Lea Graham Associates. The activities ranged from children trying out a range of percussion instruments, organised Samba and African drumming sessions, free improvisation sessions and one to one mini tuition sessions for adults. The workshop was free to all shoppers - and a good time was had by all - including Harrods Toy Department staff!
