Community Choir Workshop
The Music Workshop Company had a great day running a workshop with the Downham and Whitefoot Community Choirs recently in Bromley. The objective was to bring the two choirs together in a fun way and have the members experience something different to what they are used to by performing familiar songs in a different way and adding in some new ones too. The choir leader said "It was a fantastic experience and participants thoroughly enjoyed the session" and here we all are!
From the Blog - Black History Month
Black History Month is coming up in October and here at the Music Workshop Company we have been busy creating some brand new workshops designed to explore the culture and history of the African people through the universal, recognisable medium of music. Alongside the benefits of studying the history, learning about African and African-American music is a tremendous way for students to learn about the history of Classical, Jazz, Blues, Gospel, Soul and Rock and Roll music, and to see its influences on modern Pop music. Click here to find out more about our workshops to support students' learning.
From the Blog - Stories and Symphonies in Stevenage
The Music Workshop Company joined forces with Stevenage Symphony Orchestra last month for an exciting composition project with three Hertfordshire primary schools. The orchestra, which is for amateur musicians in and around Hertfordshire, won a grant last year from the BBC Performing Arts Fund to commission the work, Legends of the Tor, from composer Alison Wrenn, and to fund workshops in local schools. Follow this link to read more about how we developed this exciting project.

Fircroft Primary - World Percussion
All the teachers were really impressed with the workshop leader's teaching style – not speaking and controlling the children with just the use of gestures .... easy to work with – which is a real breath of fresh air!

Grace's Space - World Percussion for Charity Launch
Thank you so much, we were delighted with our Rhythms from Around the World workshop .... It was a great way to break the ice and begin this exciting new chapter at Grace's Space. I'm sure you'll be hearing from us again in the future. Through the launch we were able to start building a rapport with the children and we got some very good feedback from parents, helping us to plan and structure future sessions.

The Music Workshop Company has spent the last 2 days at Music Learning Live 2012. We had a great event and came away having met current and hopefully some new customers, as well as meeting new contacts in the industry, so well worth it.
The lucky winner of our Prize Draw was Bensham Manor School, who have won a Free Workshop of their choice. Congratulations! Everyone who entered and signed up for our mailing list is entitled to 10% discount on any workshop booked before the end of this academic year (2011/12).
RSA Insurance Group
" We wanted something to get everyone energised and excited – and the quick 20 minute warm up really did this... A reliable company that delivered what they said they would."
Esther Holt, RSA Insurance Group, February 2011
The children enjoyed using the ‘foreign’ instruments and exploring how they could make music with them. They were allowed to go about it in their own way, as the session was less structured than it would have been in a formal education setting which matched the environment we were in. The music leader was very knowledgeable and very patient with the kids … enjoyable, satisfying and informative.
Mark Palmer, Nelson Playscheme, August 2010
We (Kids Company) have used the Music Workshop Company on many occasions this year to run workshops in Primary Schools that we work in and have been delighted with the service they provide. They are an extremely professional and efficient organisation and I have always been most impressed by the workshop leaders' flexibility and enthusiastic attitude when leading the workshops.
We have had both 'World Percussion' and 'African Drumming' workshops … we have worked with ages from as young as year 1 up to year 6 and in all cases found these workshops especially effective in confidence building and team work.
Louisa Mitchell, Corporate Volunteers Co-ordinator, KIDSCOMPANY, July 2010
Excellent service – our year 9 pupils were enthused and motivated by the experience.

The tutors’ approaches to teaching and learning were consistently supportive with our project ethos and style of working with the young people. The diversity of exercises offered learning for the whole group, ensuring everyone was involved and focused. The enthusiasm and encouragement from the tutors played a huge part in this … fantastic educational fun.
Heather Batchelour, Strike a Chord Music Project, May 2010
